HJYLT Welcomes 4 Filjap 2ndGen
from June and July
Four (4) Filjap 2ndGen youths are now in Philippines for HJ Touth Leadership Training. OnJuly 24,2022 at 5:40 p.m. (Philippine time) , three (3) Filjap 2nd generation arrived safely in Manila to join 1-year HJYLT (Hyo Jeong Youth Leadership Training) , Shun Philip Matsumoto Jumawan, Miki Michael Maehara and Jo Philjan Tobisawa Andaya were welcomed by Joan Peralta and other HJYLT staff at Ninoy Aquino International airport. The parents of the three volunteers are Rev. Jun and Junko Jumawan, Rev. and Mrs Roy Carumba, and Mr. & Mrs. Joey Andaya respectively. Last month , Angelique Arias , eldest daughter of Junko and Joel Arias arrived in Manila on June 26th ahead of them. Angelique is a first year university at Sun Moon University. She will be spending her 2 months summer vacation to develop herself by joining several HJYLT activities such as studying English language, doing fundraising, witnessing, community services and other activities. Prior to the arrival of the volunteers in Manila, there was a pre-departure meeting and the volunteers had 1-month online English lessons with Dr. Allan Cadano . Rev. Ronnie Sodusta and HJYLT staff had a pre-departure meeting with the volunteers and their parents, and Joaquin Calugan, HJYLT Filjap coordinator on July 18, 2022. The volunteers and their parents introduced themselves to Rev. Sodusta and HJYLT staff. Then the volunteers expressed their concerns before going to the Philippines to join HJYLT. Through the interaction of attendees, the concerns of the volunteers and their parents were discussed and clarified. The pre-departure meeting was very helpful. Upon arrival at the Philippine airport, the volunteers started to use the English words and phrases that they have learned during their one-month online English course before their departure. Their first challenge at the airport was to find out which lane to follow in order to go to the immigration officer. Going to the immigration officer was crowded and confusing for them but they were able to figure out what to do. They could overcome the challenges at the airport. With the help of online communication, the 3 Fil-jap 2nd generation could meet the HJYLT staff in Manila. They arrived full of excitement and enthusiasm. Let us pray for success of the volunteers in HJYLT mission. Stay tuned for more for their HJYLT journey stories.
