【宗教と政治】家庭連合解散なら「共産主義者への贈り物」 米福音派牧師が警告

米政府の独立機関「国際宗教自由委員会」（ＵＳＣＩＲＦ）の元委員でキリスト教福音派のジョニー・ムーア牧師はこのほど、日本政府が世界平和統一家庭連合（旧統一教会）への解散命令を請求したことについて、これが実現すれば「共産主義者への贈り物」になると警告した。また、こうした動きが今後、他の少数派宗教へ波及することにも懸念を示した。

ムーア牧師は、「民主主義国家における宗教の自由への警鐘が鳴らされている」と題した米政治情報サイト「リアル・クリア・ポリティクス」への寄稿で、「信教の自由が侵害されているのは全体主義国だけではない」と指摘。その上で「民主主義国家では、信教の自由が不可侵の権利として認められているにもかかわらず、政府から直接迫害を受けるケースが増えている」と訴えた。

その中で、日本における家庭連合への解散命令請求について、「不名誉なことに、日本政府は影響力を持つ少数派宗教団体への法人格の剥奪を積極的に進めている」と批判。その上で「この動きが、エホバの証人やキリスト教福音派のような他の少数派宗教へ波及することが懸念される」と警戒感を示した。

また、家庭連合への迫害の背景に共産主義イデオロギーがあると指摘されていることを踏まえ、家庭連合の解散が実現すれば、「日本を破壊しようとする共産主義者への贈り物となるだろう」とも警告した。

ムーア牧師は、自身が共同創設した福音派牧師らによる「キリスト教指導者会議」の議長を務めるほか、トランプ前政権とバイデン政権の下で２度、ＵＳＣＩＲＦの委員に任命された。中国におけるイスラム教少数派やキリスト教徒への弾圧問題など、世界における信教の自由擁護に積極的に取り組んできたことで知られる。

In response to the request for a dissolution order to the Family Federation in Japan, it criticized, saying, ``Disgracefully, the Japanese government is actively promoting the stripping of corporate status to influential minority religious groups.'' He also expressed caution, saying, ``I am concerned that this movement will spread to other minority religions, such as Jehovah's Witnesses and evangelical Christians.''

In addition to chairing the Christian Leadership Conference of evangelical pastors, which he co-founded, Moore was twice appointed to the USCIRF board under the Trump and Biden administrations.
